SOUNDS

The Roxie Concept
Ask any seasoned rock, country or alt-rock guitarist about the best amp they have ever played, and likely the response is going to be one of a very small handful of amps.  Many of these are going to be EL84 amps. No, I won't tell you what they are here. The Roxie is Revelation's spin on these great EL84 amps of yore.

No the Roxie is not a clone of any amp. It is inspired by the classic tones of some of the great British voiced amps of the 60s, 70s and 80s. With build options, the Roxie can just about be anything you want it to be.

Lean Channel
The Lean channel is as simple as it gets.  Just a volume control.  The standard Lean channel employs 1/2 of a 12AX7 for just one gain stage, and the result is pure power tube distortion.  A standard build option is to tune the gain of this channel to suit your tastes.  If you really want some spank in it, then a 6DJ8 can be used instead of the 12AX7, wired in cascode, which gives about 10x as much gain but still from just one gain stage. We're not talking about gain in the sense of cascade-stage amps with that fizzy, stiff preamp distortion tone.  No this is clean gain, driving the snot out of the power tubes to give vibey, rich, dynamic and organic distortion you can only get in a handful of amps in the world.

Mean Channel
The Mean channel has the TMB tone stack, and two gain stages.  A third gain stage can be added as a standard build option if you want nothing but crunch from this channel.  In standard dual-stage format, you get all power tube distortion.  In three-stage format you get a mix of power tube and preamp distortion for that rich, "singing" distortion tone reminiscent of the legendary wooden-panel boutique 80s amps.  It's all up to you.

Build Options
The design of the Roxie is open and flexible. It is a tinkerer's delight. So the amp can be molded to fit many situations right out of the box.  You want something with a cleaner "Lean" channel, ok.  You want more of a clean/overdrive switch between channels?  We can do that.  The variety of final builds you can get with a Roxie is very broad.  Each amplifier is truly unique, sometimes radically so.

So What Makes It Great
Roll off the volume knob on your guitar, it gets clean and shimmery.  Turn it up to 7, it gets crunchy like Back in Black.  Turn it all the way to 10 and it is Van Halen I.  No need for any pedals.  The amp responds like a musical instrument.  Feedback on demand.  It's vibey, rich, and musical.  Each channel has its own flavor but they blend seamlessly.  It's almost like two amps in one.  Great for doubletracking guitars in the studio.

While the Revelation 72 may be the amp with the most flexible tone of any I have played, the Roxie is the one with the tones to die for.  Maybe less range, but boy, what it does, it does right.

As with all Revelation Amps, the Revelation Roxie is hand-wired and built by hand, one amp at a time, and just for you.
